Your vehicle’s heating and air conditioning systems keep you comfortable while driving to your destinations, and you want to know that with the flick of a switch, cool or hot air is on its way to you. If your heating or air conditioning is not acting properly, the Certified Technicians at Bobby & Steve’s Auto World are experts when it comes to fixing the heating and cooling systems in your vehicle.
The heater in your car is like a smaller version of the cooling system’s radiator. Hot engine coolant is circulated through a small radiator, and a fan is positioned in front to blow cold outside air over the fins. While this air travels, it heats up and becomes the hot air which blows out of your heater vents.
The air conditioning system in your car is made up of a compressor, condenser, evaporator, and expansion valve. To cool your vehicle, refrigerant (known as Freon) is compressed in the compressor and turns into a hot gas. In the condenser, the hot gas is cooled to a liquid state and travels to the expansion valve. As the refrigerant goes through the expansion valve it returns to a low-pressure gas and cools quickly in the evaporator. A fan blows over the evaporator and cools the air that eventually comes out of your vents.
If your heating or air conditioning system are not working properly, the Certified Technicians at Bobby & Steve’s Auto World will look for any loose belts and any improper operation and do whatever is necessary to fix the problem.
